Sonsray is seeking an experienced and reliable Payroll Specialist to join our growing company. In this role you will oversee the day to day payroll operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness. You will work in a high-volume office, processing and managing changes for over 400 employees. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, demonstrating precision and expertise, in order to maximize efficiency and productivity. Reports directly to the HR Manager.

Payroll Specialist Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process bi-weekly multi state payroll for 400+ employees through ADP Workforce Now. This includes both exempt and non-exempt for 22 locations in CA, NV, WA and OR
  • Manage workflow and updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, and job title and department/division transfers, garnishments, etc.
  • Collect all new hire paperwork and enter into HRIS/payroll in a timely and accurate manner; follow-up on missing paperwork as necessary, and update files as necessary
  • Audit time-sheets accurately to ensure wages and benefits are properly distributed
  • Compile and maintain personnel I-9 records
  • Accurately record and document all transactions, as directed
  • Research, analyze, and resolve all discrepancies, reporting as needed
  • Remain in compliance with all legal and institutional requirements at all times
  • Responsible to process and submit all companies-payroll, to include 401K reporting
  • Keep track of hour rates, wages, compensation benefit rates, new hire information etc.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and requests for information (mortgage verification, etc.)
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Must possess strong and professional communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Must be well-organized, detail orientated, able to multi task, energetic, and deliver great follow-through on projects and assignments
  • Perform miscellaneous Payroll/Human Resources related duties as required and assigned by HR Manager

 

Payroll Specialist Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; BS/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience processing payroll for 300+ employees
  • Significant experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Consistently process payroll accurately and timely
  • Require minimum supervision
  • Excellent computer skills, ADP Workforce Now is preferred, proficient in MS Office Excel, Pivot table and Vlookup functions are required
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practice
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to "manage" different personalities
  • Must be able to work well under pressure and adjust priorities, as needed
  • Aptitude for numbers and exceptional commitment to accuracy
  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
